The area consisted of Brandenburg, Mecklenburg Vorpommern, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Thuringia and the city of Berlin.  With the exception of Berlin, all of the states were parts of  German Democratic Republic (GDR).  During the Cold War, Berlin was divided into West and East Berlin. * Players from Mecklenburg Vorpommern are also included on my Northern Germany All-Time team.
